Upcoming Release
Development of Mira Groupware is proceeding very smoothly indeed, and I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear that we are well on our way to publishing our first release of Mira! Although this release will be purely developmental (for testing purposes), and should be considered “pre-alpha”, it will give you a good insight into the future of this application. On the upside, this version will boast a lot more features than we had originally intended for our first release: it will even include an instant messaging tool, a functional Utility framework and a working Files Utility (which will allow users to share files in Workplaces). Not a bad effort for a first release, right?
The latest progress has been made on the Utility framework by our eternally diligent lead developer, Alan. Although it may not look like much at the moment, a lot of blood, sweat (and code) went into producing the first version of the Files Utility and its underlying framework, as shown in the screenshot below:
If you want to follow Alan’s work, please see the Utilities branch on Launchpad or visit his blog. For more information about our upcoming release, keep checking back regularly — we’re hoping to release Mira 0.1 between February 1st and February 8th, so stay tuned!

Also, will the pre-beta be available in the “downloads” section as a self-installing package, or still be in the beta library?

Hi Matt,
I’m glad to hear you’ve been following our work! We are very eager to push this release out once it’s ready, and would be very happy to hear your thoughts on our progress.
The 0.1 release will be nicely packaged in an installer thanks to BitRock’s InstallBuilder. We’ve got the installer working before, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to customise it for this release.

Hi Matt,
We’re already in the final steps! We just have one more bug (caused by a new feature in an upstream library) to quash and one more feature to finish implementing, and then we can finally commence the final stages of testing. After that, it should be plain sailing: we’ll package it up and push the release.
Rest assured that there will be a new post announcing the release as soon as it is complete!
