Our team is working hard to bring Mira together and deliver an Open Source groupware platform which will be feature-rich, extensible, easy-to-use and flexible enough to be useful in a myriad of situations and environments, both in the workplace and at home.

I am primarily a web developer, originating from Gibraltar, GI. However, being a Linux enthusiast, I soon found myself involved in Open Source projects and when I discovered the vast increase in productivity offered by groupware platforms, and the poor state of existing Open Source groupware solutions, I took it upon myself to begin one. Mira Groupware is the second Open Source project which I have fully participated in and in both cases I have offered my skills as a manager and web designer to co-ordinate the development of the application and build their websites.
I am fluent in English and Spanish, semi-fluent in French and am currently learning Italian. On the information technology side, my skills are mainly in the areas of networking and information security and I am fluent in the following programming languages:
-
-
PHP (with database backends).
I look forward to Mira's imminent success!
I'm a hobbyist programmer. My main language is C++. I've been writing in C++ for about 5 years now mostly things related to networking and databases. Networking and Programming are the things I'm mostly interested in when it comes to computers. Other languages I've used are C and Assembly language (not a lot).
I'm currently enlisted in the U.S. Army as an “Information Technology Specialist”. Most of what I do here is system and network administration and very little programming in php, c# and c++/cli for trivial projects within my previous unit.
On a personal note, I'm originally from the Dominican Republic, but have been living in the United States since the year 2000.
I'm currently working as a software engineer. My domain expertises are mainly CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and DDS (Data Distribution Service). I am experienced with ACE (Adaptive Communication Environment) and used it for network programming in particular for UDP unicast and UDP multicast. I also have some knowledge on the LDAP using Fedora Directory Service and
XML using Xerces. I have some academic experience of database design and database programming using MySQL. My primary programming language is C++ and JAVA. The Mira groupware sounds like a very cool project to work on. What I'm looking for in this project is primary to gain more experience in particular with C++
GUI programming and network security and of course I am also looking forward to have a fun time working with everyone in the team.
My 9-to-5 is ClearCase support for Unix/Linux, and I'm a bit of a Linux-head in my spare time as well :) I'm mostly interested in things gnu-make and Java, but I would love an opportunity to work with C/C++ again since I haven't done much since school. Oh yeah, I've also done
ASP/
PHP/Javascript web dev stuff for a couple years in a small web development company, so I'm comfy in that area as well. I'm really looking forward to working with everybody towards making a great platform to make things easier for the way that people actually work in industry.
I've been at this for a while. My roots in C/C++ go back to about 1980, when I discovered how much easier C was to use than any of the dozen or so assembly languages that were then my bread and butter. I took a hiatus to play the management game for about 15 years, but stayed close enough to programming that when I had the chance to drop back into a “real work” slot I was able to rediscover the joy of programming again.
I work for Novint Technologies (www.novint.com) doing haptic applications. I poke around on my Linux server often enough to stay fresh on *nix, but my day job is pure Windows. I've just installed Minix3 and as soon as the Tannenbaum book arrives I'll finally start learning how operating systems work. My real passion is portable software; the old Sun mantra “Write once, run anywhere” has been a vision for me for years, so getting involved in a multi-os, multi-national project like this is very stimulating.
Currently doing Java/Groovy development by day. I recently wrapped a 6 year startup gig that was C++/Boost. I'm really into productivity and collaboration tools and enjoy all of the sync, identity, security, ui, etc. issues and challenges in that space. After 6 months of decompressing from the startup, I'm ready to jump into some new things.
I currently work as a database developer (DB2) for a living - been at it for the last two years, after leaving grad school (MSCS). I did a lot of C programming, including tweaking some Linux VFS and Ext2 code for a project recently. However, this is my first voluntary project. I did C++ programming before, but there's been a gap. I have done a little bit of everything - database programming, network programming, etc., and hope to contribute to the project wherever necessary.
I have experience in C++, C# and database programming. Been not in programming for some time but decided to join the community again. Doing project with unseen team for the first time and hope it is going to be wonderful experience. I have interest in telecom sector and try to stay updated on latest technologies.
I've been programming professionally for about 8 years. I've programmed in C++, C#, but lately I've been working on python projects. At work, I use mostly Windows environments (with MKS for unix emulation) and I have both Windows workstations and Linux servers at home. I'm comfortable in both environments. I'm very excited about the potential of this project and will do what I can to help it reach that potential.
I've used Java, C/C++, Assembler, COBOL, and Oracle in previous programming projects. However, this is the first project of it's kind that I've been involved with.
